Apologies!! Haven't posted for a while. Time has got away on me!! And here I am back in Derby again...but this time for the wet season.
I have a couple of adventures from the end of the last trip to share. An amazing overnight visit to Horizontal Falls...then a sunset camel ride to finish. Both these were treats to myself while in the Kimberly.
Horizontal Falls started with being picked up in Derby and taken to the airport where we boarded a seaplane which flew us to the Falls. Hopped onto a jetboat which ventured us around beautiful rock formations, then finished off going through Horizontal Falls...the speed was exhilarating, and the testosterone driving the boat...chef's kiss!!
The pontoon accommodation quaint; feeding the shark's interesting; bbq barramundi dinner delicious; sunset beautiful; night sky amazing!
Early 6am start to have breakfast then a further jetboat out to the falls...to come back and be told our planes had been fogged in at Broome...all aboard the jetboat again for a 3rd ride to the falls (unheard of!). This time on our return, the planes were on their way but those of us going back to Derby, well, our plane was another hour away!! Hahaha...yep, we loaded up again and went for a 4th ride. Soooo cool!! To finish, we went croc hunting in the mangroves. Exciting!! Didn't see any however.
The falls team were always narrating stories and legends of the lands whenever we went out; knowledgeable and respectful. They mentioned this being one of the most enjoyable trips they had been on.
Felt very privileged to have been on this journey. Got to sit in the cockpit of the seaplane for the return trip, and dropped back home.
