Derby Round Two

Derby this time round has been all about it being the wet season (supposedly). It's been anything but. The 'wet' as locals know it...is yet to come.

The heat and humidity is very tropical. It's like a hot wet blanket envelops you when you are outside. Within seconds you are sweating...it beads on your skin and starts to run very quickly. It's a heavy feeling. There was an evening thunderstorm for about an hour which gave some much needed rain (been so dry), and in the morning the air felt lighter.

Looma community is where I've had it the hottest so far...41 degrees. Thank goodness for air conditioned clinics and cars!

We try and do work out in the community in the mornings so afternoons are in the clinic.

You can't even have a cold shower as the cold water runs warm...sometimes hot 🫢🤣. I have a key to the hospital pool but haven't used it, as word is it's like getting into a warm spa pool!!

When I bring the washing in from drying outside and fold it up, it feels like it's just come of of the dryer!

It's also mango season. Have learnt how to cut them properly. The more I eat them, the more I like them. Now if I get a really ripe one, I pop it in the fridge and eat it cold - delicious!!

Thunderstorms, cyclones, and frogs still to come...
